The Co-operative Koestler Exhibition

The Co-operative is a unique family of businesses owned by its members, trading on ethical principles. It has a long history of leading the way on social responsibility and in 2008 invested almost 10% of its pre tax profit in community programmes. To learn more, visit www.co-operative.coop

From 2009 The Co-operative is supporting the Koestler Trust to encourage and showcase art by offenders, secure patients and detainees from Scotland and the North West of England.

This builds on prison art competitions which The Co-operative has held in these areas in recent years. Over the next 2 years the project with the Koestler Trust will include an exhibition each year in Edinburgh and Manchester. There also will be additional awards, judged by local arts experts, and increased outreach to local prisons and other establishments.

The first exhibition for Scotland takes place in summer 2009. The first exhibition for the North West will be in January-February 2010.

The project is led by our Touring Exhibitions Co-ordinator Fiona Curran. For more information, please contact sgaingerjones@koestlertrust.org.uk.
